If you’re self-employed and don’t have employees, you can compare and shop for Wellmark individual and family ACA Marketplace plans.
As you compare plans, consider the deductible, copays, coinsurance, provider network, prescription coverage and whether your doctors and hospitals are in network.
Wellmark individual and family plans are grouped into Bronze, Silver and Gold categories. Bronze plans often have lower monthly premiums and higher out-of-pocket costs, while Gold plans generally cost more each month but may lower what you pay when you get care.
Wellmark offers a variety of ACA Marketplace health plans in Iowa and South Dakota.

COBRA, or The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, offers continued health insurance for a period to individuals and their families when group coverage is lost due to job loss, job transition, divorce, death or other life events. This coverage is often more expensive than what you previously paid for group health coverage, as an employer is no longer paying a portion. COBRA recipients are paying the full premium.
