How to renew your plan and update your personal information
Renew your current individual or family plan during the annual Open Enrollment Period Nov. 1 to Jan. 15.
Follow these steps:
- Log in or register. If you’re a new user, you will receive a one-time identity verification to connect your Marketplace account.
- Select the option to renew your plan.
- On your plan, click renew and follow the steps.
When you renew, you'll be asked for income and household information to calculate your health insurance tax credit (subsidy). Before you begin your renewal, have an estimate in mind of the taxable income from everyone in your household — even if they're not getting coverage.
If you don't provide updated information, your tax credit will be calculated based on your most recent application or IRS information, and you may not get all the savings you're eligible for.
Additionally, any change in plan premiums can impact your tax credit. Update your information by Dec. 15 each year to ensure you get the right amount of savings.
Review your individual or family plan
Even though your Wellmark plan will automatically renew Jan. 1, you should review it each year to make sure it still fits your needs and budget.
Consider a new plan if:
- You’re seeing a new provider or taking a new medication.
- You moved out of your current plan’s service area.
- Your health, income or family size have changed.
- Your plan changed.
Does your health plan still meet your needs?
In most cases, your plan will renew automatically.
But it’s a good idea to review your health plan each year to make sure it still fits your needs and budget.
What to consider:
- You have a new health care provider.
- You’re taking a new medication.
- You moved out of the service area for your current plan.
- Your health has changed, and you need more or less coverage.
- Your income has changed.
- Your family has increased/decreased in size, or their coverage needs have changed.
If you find an error during Open Enrollment, you can change your plan.
If you find an error outside of Open Enrollment, you might qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. This allows you to shop for a new plan.
You can always reach out to a licensed local agent with any questions.
