Built-in national and international coverage
Depending on your plan, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core program enables Wellmark members to find hospitals, doctors and pharmacies across the country and around the globe. The Global Core program allows you to have the same benefits internationally that you have in the United States, such as your cost share and deductible.
It’s important to note that while Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core does provide built-in coverage when you’re traveling internationally, it does not provide full protection, such as for medical evacuation. Always be sure to call customer service before you leave the country or receive care.
To take advantage of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core program:
- Always carry your Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield member ID card.
- In an emergency, go directly to the hospital.
- Call 800-810-2583 or use the provider search to find doctors and hospitals outside of your Blue Plan area.
When you visit Global Core online, make sure you have your card ready. Simply enter the first three characters of your member ID to do a Global Core provider search, file a claim and more.
