Grant will help replace deteriorating playground
St. Lambert School to receive $36,000 from The Wellmark Foundation
DES MOINES, IA – The Wellmark Foundation has notified St. Lambert School they will receive a $36,000 Matching Assets to Community Health (MATCH) grant, contingent upon securing the matching funds. To ensure community support for the grant project, St. Lambert School is required to match this grant amount dollar-for-dollar.
This grant will help replace a 20-year old deteriorating playground with a safer place to play. The goal is to remove the existing play structure and replace it with a large one that will accommodate more children, as well as, add playground equipment that will help improve gross motor movement. The new playground will help to encourage a healthier lifestyle for children and provide an opportunity for families to spend quality time together.
“St. Lambert School showed tremendous community support for their project,” said Becky Wampler, The Wellmark Foundation executive director. “Because of this, they are well on their way to obtaining the funds they need to reach their required match for the grant. We are pleased to be able to help provide a safe place to play that will encourage physical activity for years to come.”
Since 2011, The Wellmark Foundation has provided more than $9 million in grant funding to communities across Iowa and South Dakota. View previous Wellmark Foundation MATCH grant recipients.
