Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion | Wellmark

Mary Beth joined Wellmark in January 2023 and serves as director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. In this role, Mary Beth works to further Wellmark’s core value of inclusion in collaboration with company employees and leaders. Prior to joining Wellmark, Mary Beth worked for Hy-Vee, Inc. as the Director, Community and Diversity Relations working alongside corporate administrative and store operations departments to advance community involvement and to foster a welcoming inclusive environment.

Mary Beth’s tenure at Hy-Vee also included her role as Director, State Government Relations where she advanced Hy-Vee’s policy agenda in seven Midwestern states and served as administrator for the Hy-Vee Employees’ Political Action Committee.

Mary Beth began her career working for Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Johnston, IA before joining the DuPont government relations team in Washington, DC. During her time in the District of Columbia, she also worked in grassroots advocacy for the Business Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC) and in higher education at Marymount University’s School of Business Administration. Mary Beth is a graduate of Ankeny High School (Iowa); she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Benedict (Minnesota) and her Master of Arts from The George Washington University (Washington, DC).
