Izaah Knox is the executive director of Urban Dreams. Urban Dreams provides the Des Moines community with a broad range of human services programs for underserved and underrepresented populations. He focuses on creating, strengthening and expanding programming to effectively address current and emerging community issues. Knox previously worked at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a community outreach consultant, and at Des Moines Area Community College as an adjunct advisor and YouthBuild education coordinator. He is a two-time Drake University graduate; he obtained his undergraduate degree in journalism and a master's in education.

Knox's community involvement includes serving on the Des Moines Human and Civil Rights Commission (immediate past chair) and a tri-chair of the Capital Crossroads 2.0 Social Capital. In 2012, Knox was awarded the United States of America President's Volunteer Service Award, in 2013 he made the list of Iowa's Most Interesting and Influential People by the Des Moines Register, was named a Register Person to Watch in 2015, in 2016 selected as a Des Moines Business Record's Forty Under 40, and a Business Person to Know in 2019 in the DSM Book of Lists.
