Planning a trip abroad?
Before you head out, visit Blue Cross Blue Shield Global External Site . You'll find a network of more than 9,000 hospitals and 21,000 health care professionals and outpatient care centers around the world. As an eligible Blue Cross Blue Shield member, you can find doctors and hospitals when you are traveling or living outside the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Claims support, referrals and translation services are provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Just be sure you understand how your health plan works before you go. Depending on the type of health plan you have, you may be covered in emergency situations only.
This percentage of hospitals and 93 percent of physicians throughout the U.S. contract with a Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plan.
With the BlueCard® Program you can rest easy when traveling. Always carry your current Wellmark ID card and check your out-of-area benefits before you travel. Your health plan may have limitations outside of the network. Remember, if you are on the move, you can access your Wellmark ID card on your smartphone. Download the free app today.

Your opinions matter to us
You may be randomly chosen to take a survey about your overall satisfaction with your medical care and health plan. Your answers help us understand how you feel about your medical care and your health plan. If you receive a survey via mail or phone, please take a few minutes to provide us with your feedback. The survey, which is called the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS 5.0H), is completely confidential.
