DES MOINES, Iowa — Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield congratulates employees Valora James and Rob Johnson for their continued commitment to their community by volunteering their time and talents to positively impact those around them.

On Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, James and Johnson were each awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing the important role of volunteers across America. Founded by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the award program External Link allows certifying organizations to recognize their local volunteers. James and Johnson, and 26 additional central Iowa volunteers, we’re recognized for their exceptional contributions at an award ceremony held in Des Moines.

James is a team leader in operations at Wellmark and holds many volunteer recognitions for her dedication to the community. James serves as co-chair for the Many Shades of Colour Young Women’s Conference, serves as secretary of the board for Hip-Hope, a nonprofit focused on using arts and culture to promote and advocate for hope, and volunteers with many additional charitable and religious organizations.
