Wellmark earns perfect score in 2022 Corporate Equality Index Annual Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s scorecard assesses LGBTQ+ workplace equality
DES MOINES, IA – Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation's premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. With a perfect score, Wellmark has earned the distinction of "Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality."
"We are honored to once again receive a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index," said Cory Harris, Wellmark president and CEO. "Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is steadfast. This recognition is a testament to our long-standing commitment to celebrate equality and every individual's unique strengths."
The 2022 CEI showcases how more than 1,270 U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace policies, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement.
"When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers — from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns — could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically," said Jay Brown, Human Rights Campaign senior vice president of Programs, Research and Training. "Congratulations to Wellmark for achieving the title of 'best places to work for LGBTQ+ equality' and working to advance inclusion in the workplace."
