2020–2021 Marvin Pomerantz Graduate Student Scholarship Winner Announced

DES MOINES, IA – Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced that Jesse Weiss, RN-BSN, is the recipient of the 2020–2021 Marvin Pomerantz Graduate Student Scholarship.

Weiss is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa College of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and is now enrolled in the college's PhD program. Weiss is also a staff nurse in the post-anesthesia care unit at Mercy-Iowa City.

"The scholarship will not only be helpful in covering direct school-related expenses but will also help me engage in experiences outside of the classroom, such as conferences and workshops, to further my learning," said Weiss.

Wellmark established the Marvin Pomerantz Graduate Student Scholarship fund in 2008 to honor the memory of former board member Marvin A. Pomerantz. The annual scholarship supports one or more deserving graduate students at the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
