David Vaudt named to Wellmark Board of Directors

DES MOINES, IA – Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has named David A. Vaudt to the company's board of directors. Wellmark is a member-owned, mutual insurance company that insures or administers health benefits for more than two million members in Iowa and South Dakota.

Vaudt has more than 44 years of experience in auditing and accounting. He recently completed a seven-year term as chairman of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Prior to serving as chairman of the GASB, he served for more than 10 years as Iowa's elected Auditor of State, having been elected in 2002, 2006, and 2010.

Prior to holding elected office, Vaudt spent more than 25 years with the international accounting firm of KPMG LLP, including more than 13 years as an audit partner before retiring in 2001. He has also served on numerous community and professional organizations throughout his career.
