Wellmark announces new vice president and chief information officer Paul Eddy joins Wellmark from Walgreens Boots Alliance

DES MOINES, IA — Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has announced that Paul Eddy has joined Wellmark as vice president and chief information officer. Prior to joining Wellmark, Eddy served as group vice president and CIO of various areas within the Walgreens Boots Alliance.

Eddy has held technology leadership roles as senior vice president with National City Corporation (now PNC Financial Services), vice president with Northern Trust Company. He began his career with Hewitt Associates (now Aon).

Eddy will lead Wellmark’s Business Technology Services division. In this role, he is responsible for technology and information assets and strategy including: platform transformation and modernization, innovation, applications, data, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, emerging technologies, and enterprise portfolio management.

Eddy earned his bachelor degree in computer science from the University of Iowa. He currently serves as a board member of the e-Health Initiative in Washington, D.C and previously served on the Illinois Health Information Exchange Advisory Committee.
