Young Fried Vice President, Pharmacy Services

As vice president of Pharmacy Services, Young Fried is responsible for leading and advancing Wellmark’s pharmacy strategy to improve the health of our members and communities.

She and her team collaborate with internal and external partners to provide evidence-based, regional integrated pharmacy services that best serve our members, clients and providers. The overall goal is to maximize affordability, simplify complex processes and curate the best innovation in pharmacy management.

Young has more than 23 years of experience in various health care settings, holding both clinical and management positions. Prior to joining Wellmark, she served as the chief pharmacy officer for Cigna, focused on affordability and clinical program development for the national plan. She has also led pharmacy management at a regional Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), HealthPartners, and created a pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) for a national Taft Hartley Fund, Unite Here Health.

She received a doctorate degree in pharmacy from the University of Illinois and holds a Master of Science degree in applied pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida.
