Keith Shah Executive Vice President, Chief Health and Innovation Officer

As the head of the Health Care Innovation division, Keith oversees the critical work happening with Wellmark’s Health & Pharmacy Services and Health Network & Government Programs departments. His broad leadership and executive experience along with his direct background in provider payment strategies and population health management directly aligns with Wellmark’s mission of improving the health of our members and communities.

Keith joined Wellmark in 2022. He previously worked at United Health Group – Optum, where he served as a senior leader for Strategy & Growth, and President of Applied Innovation. In that role, he partnered with other senior staff to innovate across a broad spectrum of health care services. Prior to that, he served in a variety of health care organizations, including senior leadership roles with Prisma Health, FTI Consulting, and 15 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. Throughout his career he has led and developed market strategies, product innovation and partnership development in the areas of consumer health, population health, care management, physician alignment and value-based reimbursement to drive growth.

Keith holds a B.S. degree from Drexel University, a Master’s of Organizational Development and an MBA from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in Health Services Policy and Economics from the University of South Carolina.
