Christa Kuennen Vice President, Controller

As vice president, controller, Christa Kuennen is responsible for Wellmark's accounting and financial reporting, treasury management, financial planning and analysis, corporate tax and serves as a voting member on the Wellmark Retirement Benefits Committee. She also serves as Wellmark's representative on both the Iowa and South Dakota Life Health Guaranty Association Board and is the treasurer of The Wellmark Foundation. She has been with the company since 1994, serving in a variety of auditing and accounting positions. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of Financial Reporting and Investment/Treasury Operations, as well as, other leadership positions within Finance.

Christa is a Fellow, Life Management Institute in the Life Office Management Association and is a member of the Iowa Society of CPAs. Outside of Wellmark, she is on the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Leadership Committee.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting, from Iowa State University and is also a certified public accountant.
