Education

Paul Hlivko is a graduate of Mount Union College and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science with concentrations in art and business.

Career

As vice president and chief technology officer, Hlivko is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of technology transformation, enterprise data management, application delivery, digital technology, and innovation.

Prior to joining Wellmark, Hlivko served as senior vice president and managing director of IT, digital and innovation at First Niagara Financial Group. Most recently, he led First Niagara’s strategic program to deliver the corporation’s new operating model and underlying technology transformation. In addition, Hlivko was responsible for digital, application development, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, and technology risk management.  

Earlier in his career, he held various technology leadership roles at National City Corporation and PNC Financial Services, and founded two startups — a digital imaging company and an internet technology consulting business.
