Paul J. Hlivko Vice President, Chief Technology and Experience Officer

As vice president, chief technology and experience officer, Paul Hlivko is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of experience strategy, user experience design, customer research, and the operations of digital channels. In addition, for technology he oversees the application portfolio and operations, API platforms, enterprise data management, enterprise architecture, and software product management.

Prior to joining Wellmark, Paul served as senior vice president and managing director of IT, digital and innovation at First Niagara Financial Group. Most recently, he led First Niagara's strategic program to deliver the corporation's new operating model and underlying technology transformation. In addition, Paul was responsible for digital, application development, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, and technology risk management.

Earlier in his career, he held various technology leadership roles at National City Corporation and PNC Financial Services, and founded two startups — a digital imaging company and an internet technology consulting business.

Paul is a member of the Boards of Directors of Technology Association of Iowa, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, and Des Moines Performing Arts.

He is a graduate of Mount Union College and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science.
