A native of Illinois, Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and human relations and a master’s in organizational communication from Western Illinois University.


Mike joined Wellmark in 2009 and previously served as the director, marketing communications. In 2011, he was named vice president of Corporate and Marketing Communications responsible for customer research, internal and external communications, brand communications (advertising, public relations, sponsorships, social media and creative services) and Wellmark’s digital experience (Web and mobile).

Mike served as the executive director of The Wellmark Foundation from 2013-2015. In 2015, he took on an expanded role by leading Wellmark’s Customer Experience initiative. This resulted in his current role as vice president, Marketing.

Prior to joining Wellmark, Mike led retail communications for all states at Payless ShoeSource and internal communications at Discover Financial Services. His cumulative experience across retail, financial services and insurance has given him diverse marketing and communication experience.
