Peter Kitundu Vice President, Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer

Peter Kitundu joined Wellmark in 2013 as the director of Compliance and currently serves as vice president, chief compliance & privacy officer. In his role, Peter is responsible for strategically leading and managing the compliance function for Wellmark, including the planning and execution of the enterprise compliance vision, goals, and initiatives that support our long-term objectives, mission, and vision. He provides leadership and oversight to the Business Ethics and Compliance program, Privacy Office, regulatory compliance functions, and he is responsible for the strategic direction of the Special Investigations Unit, and Special Inquiries Team.

Prior to joining Wellmark, Peter worked for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Des Moines. During his 16 years at Nationwide, he held various roles in claims and staff underwriting, as well as the office of general counsel where he most recently served as an associate vice president and regional counsel.

Peter obtained his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctorate degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College and Drake University Law School, respectively.
