Caring is a core value at Wellmark, and no program exemplifies our employees' investment in their communities more than The Wellmark Foundation's BluesCare Giving program Opens in a new window.
Through this employee-driven philanthropy program, Wellmark employees give their time and money to help build playgrounds, combat food insecurity, fight cancer and countless other causes close to their hearts. The BluesCare Giving program encourages employees to donate their time and money to qualifying nonprofit organizations in Iowa and South Dakota. The Wellmark Foundation then matches these contributions.
Personal contributions are matched dollar-for-dollar. Volunteer hours are converted to a dollar amount that employees then designate to be given to the qualified organization of their choosing.
Through this signature initiative, millions of dollars have been distributed to more than 1,100 nonprofits in Iowa and South Dakota.
- More than $1.4 million was distributed to nonprofits in Iowa and South Dakota in 2021.
- 769 employees participated in BluesCare Giving in 2021.
- 27,971 volunteer hours logged by our employees in 2021.
- More than 705 nonprofit organizations were impacted by BluesCare Giving donations and volunteer hours in 2021.
