Working at Wellmark

A great career is about flourishing — in your work, health and life. At Wellmark, we equip you with the tools to do just that.

The financial well-being of our employees is important to us. Our competitive compensation program inspires excellence and rewards performance. With an eye to your future, we also provide a variety of retirement benefit options, including a very competitive 401(k) and cash-balance pension plan.

Not surprisingly, our employees enjoy robust, affordable health insurance, with balanced plan designs and a competitive employer contribution. Onsite fitness facilities and numerous wellness programs empower our employees to get and stay healthy. Plus, Wellmark is a tobacco-free workplace.

Wellmark also encourages development at every level, from e-learning options to industry training and more. Employees can continue their education through an Educational Assistance program. We reimburse up to $15,000 annually for tuition assistance, or $5,000 annually for student loan reimbursement. Leadership opportunities offer the chance to inspire, develop and encourage employees. This commitment requires that all leaders are clear on what is expected of them to be successful. Learn more about being a leader at Wellmark.

We know finding that right work/life blend is critical to our employees’ success, both in the office and at home. But we recognize it’s different for everyone. So, we offer a flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) program that combines vacation, personal leave and sick leave into a single "time bank.” With time in the bank, our employees make the withdrawals that give them the balance they need.

Wellmark encourages you to give back to your community.

Employees are encouraged to put their passion to work and affect change through the BluesCare Giving program. For every 24 hours you volunteer in the community, you can designate $1,000 to the qualifying nonprofit of your choice. We also support what you support, matching your financial contributions to eligible nonprofits, dollar-for-dollar.

The goal of every Wellmark employee is to help transform the health care system.

By improving the health of ourselves, our members and our communities and upgrading the delivery of care, we can measurably reduce the rate of future health care cost increases. Flexible benefit designs, competitive prices, a vast provider network, and exceptional service help ensure more people have access to quality health care. It’s a culture of health worth committing to.

Diversity and inclusion

We are all different. And we like that.

Recognizing, respecting, and maximizing our differences provides Wellmark a competitive advantage. The diversity of experience, ideas, cultures, and beliefs drives us to achieve and creates an environment of innovation, connectivity and commitment. Inclusion is part of our core values — vital to our business and long-term success.

Our CEO and Chairman John Forsyth has been nationally recognized for his commitment to diversity. Here’s what Mr. Forsyth says about inclusion at Wellmark:

"At Wellmark, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to who we are and what we do. Investing in an inclusive workforce and workplace garners innovation, connectivity, and commitment. Combining diversity with inclusion is essential to reaching our potential as a company.

We are all different, so recognizing, respecting, and maximizing these differences provides us a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace."
