Blue Select^® Copayment PPO Plans

Blue Select is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan that offers a number of choices in price and benefits, so you can find the coverage that best fits the needs of your business and employees. These plans take advantage of Wellmark's strong local Blue Select provider network, and also give employees access to the BlueCard national network for out-of-area care.

How It Works
With Blue Select, employees can see any in-network or out-of-network health care provider for most covered services — no referrals, no hassle. Employees generally pay a low copayment for in-network, office-based services and emergency care. Most other services and out-of-network care are subject to a deductible and coinsurance.

Employees can go directly to specialists without a referral and have the freedom to go outside the network, although they'll pay less for services from Blue Select providers. In-network providers also file claims directly with Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, offering even greater service.

Highlights

• Network strength. With 99 percent of South Dakota physicians and 100 percent of South Dakota’s hospitals participating in the Blue Select network, employees won’t have any trouble finding a network provider or facility.
• Direct access to specialists. Employees are not required to designate a primary care provider (PCP), and they're free to see specialists without referrals.
• In- or out-of-network coverage. Employees maximize their benefits by choosing a Blue Select provider, but have the freedom to visit providers outside the network if they’re willing to share more of the cost of their care.
• Coverage anywhere via BlueCard. If employees need care away from home, they're covered by the BlueCard network, with more than 6,000 hospitals and 635,000 doctors worldwide.
