What is the Blue Priority HRA and How is it Used?
The Blue Priority HRA, funded entirely by you, provides your employees
a fixed dollar amount to use to pay for covered health care expenses.
With the Blue Priority HRA, you can:
- Allocate a flat amount per employee
or a variable amount, depending on whether the employee has single,
two-person or family coverage
- Decide to make the entire Blue Priority
HRA allotment available at the beginning of the plan year or on a monthly,
quarterly, or semi-annual
basis
Other things to note about the Blue Priority HRA:
- If your employee does
not use the entire Blue Priority HRA allotment for the year, that unused
money is rolled over to the next
plan year – this encourages members to use health care services and their Blue
Priority HRA monies wisely
- The Blue Priority HRA can only
be used to pay for services applying to the deductible or coinsurance
- Blue
Priority HRA monies will be paid directly to the member to help them
better understand the actual cost of health care – it
will be the member's responsibility to pay the provider who performed the services
- Maximum
funding of 50 percent of the deductible
- Used to cover deductibles and
coinsurance only
- Blue Priority HRA pays first if offered along with
a flexible spending account (FSA)
- Flexible features include: funding
level, availability of funds, off-renewal additions, qualifying events,
other options
- Blue Priority HRA plans are subject to COBRA
- HIPAA applies to all Blue
Priority HRA plans, including fully insured groups
