Coverage ChangesWellmark Drug ListEffective January 1, 2006, eight brand-name drugs will move from Tier 2 to Tier 3 on the Wellmark Drug List. Tier 3 drugs have a higher copayment or coinsurance. Wellmark moved the medications to Tier 3 because generic equivalents are now available. Members who have filled a prescription for one of the medications listed below during the past three months were sent letters about the change.The table below lists the medications moving to Tier 3, as well as their generic equivalents.
One other drug, Uroxatral, is also moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3 on the Wellmark Drug List. This drug does not have a generic equivalent; however, there are other therapeutic alternatives available. * A generic equivalent is a medication that contains the same active ingredient at the same dose and formulation as the brand name drug. Please refer to the Wellmark Drug List for drug tier information. |
