Classic Blue®
A Traditional Managed Indemnity Health Product
Classic Blue is a managed indemnity
product, which means your employees can visit any provider for their medical
care, but will benefit from provider negotiated pricing and electronic
claims filing when care is coordinated through providers who participate
in a network.
Customize a Classic Blue plan to best meet your
employees' needs from deductible and coinsurance amounts to prescription
drug coverage and preventive services. Qualified, high-deductible Classic
Blue plans can be paired with the Blue
Priority HSA (Health Savings Account).
Five Points You Need to Know About Classic Blue:
- No network restrictions, with incentives to use participating
providers. Classic Blue offers your employees unsurpassed flexibility
because no matter what provider they visit, they'll have coverage
due to one of Classic Blue's
most attractive features — no network restrictions. However, by visiting
a participating provider (which includes 99 percent of Iowa's physicians
and all of Iowa's
hospitals) your employees will get some added benefits. And with such a strong
contingent of participating providers, it's easy for your employees to take full
advantage of the added benefits.
- No balance billing. Contracted providers won't collect
from members any difference between the rate they usually
charge for covered services and the rate Wellmark has negotiated on
behalf of its members. (In other words, these providers have agreed
to accept
Wellmark's settlement as payment in full for covered services, once
any applicable deductible, coinsurance, and/or copayment amounts are
paid
by the member.)
- Benefits management provisions. With Classic Blue, you receive
benefits management provisions — for which your employees are
responsible — that help control the rising costs of health care
in Iowa.
- Flexibility in plan design. As the administrator of a large
group, you have great flexibility in your plan design and selection
of covered and noncovered services. Your account manager or broker
can help you customize your plan and answer any questions you may have.
- Prescription drug plan included. Wellmark partners
with one of the nation's top pharmacy benefits managers to offer a
variety of benefit
plan designs and convenient access to a large pharmacy network that includes
both national retail chains
and independent
pharmacies.
