Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Do I need my I.D. card when I get care? A. You will receive a Blue DentalSM identification card (I.D.) when you initially enroll in your dental program. It is important to show your I.D. card at each dental visit so that a proper claim can be filed for your dental services. Q. What if someone in my family has another dental insurance plan? A. When someone has additional dental coverage, one plan is usually primary. This means that your dentist sends the claim for service to the primary insurance plan and may also submit it to a secondary plan. Blue Dental will coordinate benefits if a member has coverage under more than one dental plan. Q. Can I change dentists? A. You can change to a different dentist at anytime. You do not need to pre-select a dentist. Q. How do I know which dentist to select? A. Get recommendations from friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members to find a dentist who matches your needs and values. A convenient location, accommodating clinic hours, and Saturday and evening hours may also be important considerations for you. Q. Should I verify that my dentist is a Blue Dental participating dentist? A. Yes. By checking with your dentist or calling Blue Dental, you are assured that your dentist is still participating in the network. Please refer to our online directory.
