Special Features for Blue Select^® Members

The BlueCard PPO Program gives you plenty of choices — 80 percent of all U.S. hospitals and nearly 90 percent of all physicians contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.* Doctors and hospitals will recognize your BlueCard PPO membership by the "PPO in a suitcase" on your ID card.

Here's How It Works

• Call 1-800-810-BLUE or visit BlueCard Doctor & Hospital Finder to locate the nearest participating doctors and hospitals.
• Present your ID card to a participating Blue Cross and Blue Shield doctor or hospital.
• The doctor or hospital verifies your membership and submits the claim to Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
• The doctor's or hospital's local Blue Plan pays the health care provider directly. You are responsible only for applicable deductibles, copayments or coinsurance.
• Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Save Money When You Use PPO Providers

• Your claims are processed at your PPO health plan's in-network coinsurance level.
• Blue Plan PPO-provider negotiated prices are typically lower than traditional participating provider prices.
