Wellmark Drug List Changes

Fourteen drugs will be moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3 on the Wellmark Drug List on January 1, 2009.

Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield is moving 12 medications from Tier 2 to Tier 3 on the Wellmark Drug List because generic equivalents are now available. In addition, two drugs that do not have generic equivalents, Caduet and three strengths of Lipitor—10mg, 20mg, and 40mg—are moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3.

Generic Equivalents Available

Wellmark is moving the following brand-name medications from Tier 2 to Tier 3 because generic equivalents (also known as an AB-rated generic) are now available. The pharmacist can make the change; no new prescription is needed. By moving to the generic, members may be able to save on their out-of-pocket costs.
