Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield understands that you are concerned about the security of your information, so we've instituted multiple security features and procedures to ensure that your personal healthcare information is handled safely and responsibly.

When You Register With Us

When you become a Wellmark.com registered user, we ask you to create a personal, private user id and password. It is your responsibility to keep these confidential:

· Do not share your user id and password with anyone.
· Never write your password on something others may see.

Wellmark supports:

· Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher
· Netscape 7.0 and higher
· Mozilla Firefox 1.0

Secure Server Software

Wellmark intends to ensure the security of your personal healthcare information. To do that we use proven Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. When you log into Wellmark.com, your user id and password are sent over the Internet from your computer to ours using SSL. SSL encrypts your personal information before it leaves your computer, ensuring no one else can read it.

Once you have logged in, you can check that you are viewing your information in the secure section of our site by looking for the letters https:// at the beginning of the web site address or URL in your web browser. The "s" means secure.

Before you even register, our server checks to be sure you're using a browser that also uses SSL (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator). If your browser is not approved, you will receive a message indicating that your information cannot be sent because of the security risk.

Cookies

Cookies are small bits of information sent by a web site that are temporarily saved by your web browser. Cookies hold information a site may need to interact with you and personalize your experience. We use session cookies to authenticate your authority to access our site and to maintain information we need to have in order for you to browse through your personal healthcare information. These cookies exist only for as long as your browser remains open. Once you exit your browser, they go away.

Most people accept cookies, but you can configure your browser to not accept cookies if you choose. However, if you disable your cookies and are a registered user, you will not be able to access your personal information on Wellmark.com.
