Search Help
Search can be found at the top of each
Wellmark Web pages.
At its simplest, a search can be for just a word or a phrase.
With the tips on this page, however, you can expand your search to
give you more complete results:
- Exact phrases —
Search for exact phrases using quotes. For instance, if
you type in Blue Cross, your results will show all pages
that include the words blue and cross. Type in "Blue
Cross," and your results will show only the pages that
include the entire phrase "Blue Cross."
- AND, NEAR, AND NOT, and OR —
These words, called "Boolean Indicators," can
help you refine your search:
- Use AND to find pages that include multiple
words or phrases anywhere within the page. For instance: "Blue
Cross" AND "Blue Shield."
- Use NEAR, rather than AND, to find words close
to each other within the page. For example, both Blue AND
Cross and Blue NEAR Cross, look for the words Blue
and Cross on the same page. But with NEAR, the returned pages are
ranked in order of proximity: The closer together the words are,
the higher the rank of that page.
- Use AND NOT to exclude
certain text from your search. For example, if you want to find
all instances of blue but not Blue Cross, use the following:
Blue AND NOT Cross.
- Use OR to find all instances of either one word or
another, for example: Blue OR Cross. This search finds
all pages that mention Blue or Cross or both.
- Put quotation marks around Booleans if you want your
search to take them literally. For instance, if you type "Blue
Cross and Blue Shield," search will look for that
complete phrase. But if you type the same phrase without the
quotation marks, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, search
will look for all of the pages that contain the words Blue
and Cross and Shield anywhere on the page.
- Words with the same prefix —
Type key*, for example, to find key, keying,
keyhole, keyboard, etc.
- All forms of a word —
Type
sink**, for example, to find sink, sinking, sank, and
sunk.
