Roberta Wattleworth, D.O., is chairman of the Department of Family
Medicine at Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center (DMU).
Dr. Wattleworth received her undergraduate degree from Morningside
College in Story City, Iowa. She went on to earn her doctor of
osteopathy degree from DMU. She completed a rotating internship
in Richmond Heights, Ohio, and then completed residencies in both
anesthesiology and family practice. She also has master’s degrees
in health care administration and public health, both from DMU.
Dr. Wattleworth has spent the past 20 years in various health
care positions, including 10 years in private practice. Most recently,
in addition to serving as chair of the Department of Family Medicine,
she is also an associate professor of family practice at DMU.
She is a Fellow, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians,
and is the recipient of the 2001 George W. Northup Outstanding
Educator of the Year Award. She is also a member of the American
Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family
Physicians, and the Iowa and Polk County Osteopathic Medical associations.
Dr. Wattleworth and her husband live in Story City, Iowa, with
their youngest child, Ashley.
