Submitting Claims

Claims can be submitted either electronically or by paper.

Before submitting your claims to Wellmark, read about the Improve the Claims Adjudication Process (iCAP) in the Payment Policies section of the site.

Wellmark is an industry leader when it comes to processing and paying claims:

• Approximately 550,000 claims are received per week
• Majority of claims are processed and paid within 30 days
• About 87 percent of claims are received electronically
• Nearly 80 percent of our claims pass through the claims system the first time

Wellmark has received recognition from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association as a “National Benchmark Plan” for excellence in claims processing.
