Providers can participate with Wellmark by one of two contracting mechanisms. Contract and agreement may be used interchangeably.

1.Contract under a group arrangement, through a Provider Organization (PO) or a Provider Hospital Organization (PHO). Typically if a provider contracts through a group, PO or PHO, this organization “owns” the contract with Wellmark. The organization is accountable to facilitate the contracting portion of the enrollment process with Wellmark for their members.

2. Providers may contract directly with Wellmark as individuals and, as such, the individual provider “owns” the contract with Wellmark.

In order to participate in Wellmark's networks, the physician must sign the appropriate agreement(s). If you are a hospital based provider, review this information to determine if signing agreements is necessary.
