As an employer, you can play a significant role in encouraging your employees to become wise health care consumers:

To make it easier for you to educate your employees about the drivers of health care costs and what they can do to make a difference, Wellmark provides health care cost and quality tools to help members better understand the true cost of health care and choose quality providers. To access the secured tools, you will need to be registered as a member and use your member user ID and password to log in.

Cost and quality tools available to Wellmark employer groups include:

• Average treatment costs for the most common conditions and procedures among Wellmark members in Iowa, South Dakota, and other regions of the country.
• Blue Distinction Hospital Measurement and Improvement Program^SM, Wellmark participates in this program that gives group decision-makers and providers access to quality data for hospitals that contract with The Blues^®. This tool provides greater detail on measures and is currently not available to members.
• HEDIS^® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) results: HEDIS is a reliable, recognized method for judging the quality of a health plan.
