Classic Blue®
A Traditional Managed Indemnity Health Product
Classic Blue is a traditional, fee-for-service health care product. You
control your choice of physicians and facility, from primary caregiver
to specialist and hospital. Although Classic Blue has no network
restrictions, there are advantages to seeking
care from providers who contract with Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Here are a few things to know about Classic Blue:
- No network access restrictions. You’ll
have coverage no matter what provider you visit. No network access restrictions
mean you can seek medical
services from any physician, hospital, or other approved provider.
- In-network advantages. You maximize your benefits
and avoid hidden costs by choosing a Classic Blue provider. When you see
a participating
provider, you're responsible only for any applicable deductible
and/or coinsurance – and you won’t have any claim forms or
paperwork to worry about. If you see a non-participating provider, you'll
be responsible for any deductible and coninsurance and the difference between
the actual bill and the allowed amount.
- Extensive provider network. More than
99 percent of Iowa physicians and 100 percent of Iowa’s hospitals
participate in the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield network — which
means you won’t
have any trouble finding a network provider or facility.
