A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Health Plan
Alliance Select gives you the freedom to visit any
physician or specialist in the network any time care is needed, as
well as the option to see providers outside the network, without a referral.
Alliance Select is one of the most popular health plans in Iowa, insuring
more than
one million members.
Here are a few advantages of
Alliance Select:
- Self-referrals. Unlike other health plans
that require you to visit a primary care provider (PCP)
before
seeing a specialist
or
other provider, there’s no need to obtain a referral from a PCP
with Alliance Select. You can receive covered services from
any health care provider both in and out of the Alliance Select network.
- In-network advantages. You maximize your
benefits by choosing an Alliance Select provider. Deductibles are typically
waived
for services provided by a participating provider, and in-network services
carry a lower coinsurance percentage. Participating providers also handle
all claims paperwork.
- Extensive provider network. More than 99 percent
of Iowa physicians and 100 percent of Iowa’s hospitals participate
in the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield network — which means
you won’t have any trouble finding a network provider or facility.
