Agent Registration Information for BlueConnection®

General

Q. Why do I need to complete the agent registration?
A.
Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield is launching an improved Web site security system that will restrict access to our agent online tools on www.wellmark.com. By placing our agent online tools behind security (that you can have access to) we will be able to offer you more information and better tools to help keep your business moving.

All agents who want access to the agent online tools must register online. When you register, you will set up a password that gives you access to the tools whenever you want.

Q. Why do I need to accept terms and conditions during registration?
A.
By accepting the terms and conditions you are agreeing to keep the information on www.wellmark.com confidential and maintain the security of your User ID and password. All users of our Web site tools are required to accept the terms and conditions before they are allowed access to the secured information.

Q. Is there a cost to use Wellmark’s Web site?
A.
No, but you will incur costs related to Internet access. Your computer, modem and Internet service provider determine how long it will take to access the Web site and the cost involved.

Q. What are the hardware/software requirements to access Wellmark’s Web site?
A.
Using the online tools on www.wellmark.com does not require the most current computers and software. However, there are minimum requirements:

  • Windows 95/98/NT4.0
  • 16MB RAM (32 MB RAM highly recommended)
  • 28.8 baud (or faster) modem
  • Internet service provider
  • Web Browser (4.0 on Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape or a newer version)

    Note: You must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 7.0 (or a newer version) in order to receive and read secure e-messages from Wellmark.

Q. When are the online tools available?
A.
The applications are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Q: I switched agencies and can no longer access the Wellmark agent online tools.  How do I regain access?
A:
Wellmark automatically deactivates your User ID when you switch agencies. You must simply register again with your new agent number.

Q: Once I’ve registered, when can I start using the online tools?
A:
There is no waiting period, so you can begin using these tools immediately.

Q: Whom do I call if I have questions or problems?
A: If you have any questions or experience any problems in the registration process, call the EC Solutions Assistance Center at 800-407-0267.

Registration

Q. How do I register?
A.
Go to the Broker Section and complete the agent registration process. You’ll need your agent and agency numbers. To register, follow these steps:

  • Go to Register for Online Tools under the Broker Corner on www.wellmark.com.
  • Follow the instructions that lead you through:
  • Reading and accepting the Terms and Conditions

  • Completing the registration form that asks for basic information such as name, phone number, e-mail address, social security number and agent number.

    • Iowa Farm Bureau agents ONLY: Enter 000 in the agency number field. Do not use your county number.
  • Choosing your User ID and Password. Be sure to create a User ID and password that you can remember without writing it down. Do not display your password or share your logon information with anyone. Keep your password confidential. If you think your password is no longer confidential, please change it
  • Review the information you submit and confirm it or make changes.  Once your registration is submitted, you can begin using the tools placed behind security.

    Note: If you have registered to receive secure e-messages from Wellmark, you may register later to add access to all of the Blue Connection self-service tools. You will retain your user ID and your password when you log in. When you complete the additional registration process, your access will be temporaily suspended until you receive a new password through the U. S. Mail (7-10 days).

Q: I have entered all of the required information on the registration screen. Why am I unable to register?
A: There could be many reasons:

  • The agency number, agent number, last name and/or social security number you entered do not match our records
  • You are not currently an active, appointed agent with Wellmark
  • You are a Farm Bureau producer assistant or marketing assistant (only appointed Farm Bureau agents may register).

Q: What if I have two Wellmark agent numbers?
A: Please register once for each agent number.  You will assign separate User IDs and passwords to each agent number.

Q. During the registration process, I received a message that my password must be 7 to 24 characters long and include at least one number and one letter. What is wrong?
A. First, did you use the tab key to move from box to box as you typed the password in twice, once in the Enter a Password box and once in the Confirm Password box? If not, please try that. Do not use the enter button until you have filled in both boxes. If you do, the system thinks you are finished entering data and generates this error message.

Next, if you did use the tab key and still received the message, check the password you entered. It must contain at least one number and one letter, and be no longer than 24 characters long. Type a password that meets these criteria.

Farm Bureau

Q: What do Iowa Farm Bureau agents enter in the Agency box?
A: Iowa Farm Bureau agents should use 000 for your agency number on the online registration form.  Please do not enter your county code.

Q: What do South Dakota Farm Bureau agents enter in the Agency box?
A: South Dakota Farm Bureau agents should enter their agency number (e.g., 203, 250, 252) in the Agency box.

Agency

Q: How do I give my agency staff members access to the new version of ANTS?

A: ANTS for Agencies is moving under the agency Web site security activated in June.  The designated security coordinator (DSC) for your agency can to go to the “Maintenance for Web Access” link in the Agency Registration Section of the Broker Section to give users access to this tool.  If your agency hasn’t registered yet, it’s not too late.  Just select a DSC and he or she can go to the Broker Corner to register the agency.

For South Dakota Farm Bureau agencies, the DSC must also indicate the Farm Bureau agency number for each staff member (e.g., 203, 250, 252).   For Iowa Farm Bureau agencies, the DSC must also indicate the Farm Bureau county number for each staff member.

Broker Tools

Q. How will ANTS be affected by the new security?

A. ANTS is being moved under the new Web site security system. The tool itself will not be affected. The only change is to access ANTS; you must complete the agent registration process.  If you haven’t signed up under the new registration process by the activation date, your current User ID and password will be disabled and you’ll be unable to access ANTS until you complete the registration process.  Therefore, be sure to go through the registration process. Instruction guides for ANTS are available online. 

Q: Why don’t I have access to ANTS and Apply For Coverage?

A: Only agents who are appointed to sell individual business are authorized to use these tools.  All agents who register will have access to the Broker Toolkit when it is added to the Broker Corner.

Change My E-mail Address

Q. I have already registered to use the BlueConnection self-service tools on Wellmark.com. How do I change my e-mail address?
A.
To change your e-mail address online:

  1. Log in using your current ID and password
  2. Press the OK button
  3. If you:
    1. Provided an e-mail address when you registered, that address appears next to the words Current E-Mail. To change it:
      1. Fill in the New E-Mail and Confirm E-Mail boxes
      2. Press the OK button
    2. Did not provide an e-mail address when you registered, the space after the words Current E-Mail will be blank. To add an e-mail address:
      1. Fill in the New E-Mail and Confirm E-Mail boxes
      2. Press the OK button

Your new e-mail address will be on file after you see the words, "E-mail change was successful."
