What You Can Do
Make Wise Lifestyle Choices
Eating well, exercising regularly, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol
consumption can have a positive impact on your overall health. Those same
lifestyle choices also affect health care costs.
Regular, moderate physical activity (like taking a brisk, 30-minute walk
three times a week) can help prevent:
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Colon cancer
|
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Arthritis and osteoporosis
|
Being active can save money, too. The U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services estimates that our annual national health care bill
would be cut by nearly $77 billion, if the 88 million inactive Americans
over the age of 15 would engage in this level of activity.
Here are other wise lifestyle choices:
- Get enough sleep
- Learn how to deal with stress
- Practice good dental hygiene
- Wear sunscreen when outside
