Do it for the fun of it

Remember when you were a kid constantly on the go? You didn’t have to think about it – you were active for the sheer fun of it. The same is true well into your golden years. If you like an activity, you’re much more likely to keep it up.
BEING ACTIVE DOESN'T REQUIRE MONEY OR EVEN A LOT OF RESOURCES.

Instead, build activities that you like to do into your lifestyle, whether it’s riding your bike, playing with your kids, walking the dog, swimming, or any other activity you enjoy. The key is to engage in low-intensity activity most days of the week.

Test your IQ

Q: You can enjoy the same health benefits from three 10-minute physical activity sessions as you can from one 30-minute session.

The correct answer is: True. Studies show that three 10-minute sessions of physical activity are just as beneficial as one 30-minute session. If time is tight, split your activity into at least three 10-minute sessions throughout your day. You will enjoy the same health benefits without the stress of trying to find one large block of time.

Get moving without thinking about it:

Inconvenience yourself. Small things, like using a push mower instead of a riding mower, riding a bike to the store, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, can add up to a more active lifestyle.

Get connected.
Being active is more fun when you have company. Plus, you’ll hold each other accountable.

Walk. It’s free and easy to do. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and you’re ready to go.
