The Women’s Health and
Cancer Rights Act

The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act is a federal law that requires health plans to cover breast construction after a mastectomy. It has long been Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s policy to cover reconstructive surgery for women who have had mastectomies.
