Nature’s 100-calorie snack pack
"If you give fruit a chance, it’s really the ultimate snack,” says Julie Enga, R.D., L.D. “A piece or portion of fruit is usually less than 100 calories. Fruit satisfies your sweet craving, doesn’t add too much sugar to your diet, and also helps you stay hydrated. Plus, it’s portable and convenient.”

  • Think beyond apples and bananas — pick up some papaya, mango, or kiwi. Try different varieties and combinations.
  • Try these tips to make fruit more appealing to your kids. Make a fruit kabob, give them chopsticks or cocktail umbellas to use as utensils, or serve with a healthy yogurt dip — they’ll be more likely to give it a try.
