For the last five years, Wellmark has worked collaboratively with committees of Iowa and South Dakota practicing physicians toward the goal of ensuring member/patient access to efficiently delivered quality care.
These committees, called Physician Advisory Committees (PACs), traditionally meet twice per year unless more frequent meetings are needed.
Physician Advisory Committee Members – Roles and Responsibilities
The physicians on the committees provide Wellmark with feedback on various initiatives and identify new opportunities to improve the health of both Iowans and South Dakotans. The PACs discuss issues arising that include, but are not limited to:
a) improvement of health care and clinical quality
b) improvement of communications, relations, and cooperation between physicians and Wellmark
c) clinical or administrative matters impacting physician interactions with Wellmark.
PAC physician members represent a variety of medical specialties, practice sizes, and geographic locations. Each member serves a minimum of three years, and may serve a maximum of six years.
Opportunities for Physicians Who Are Not PAC Members
Physicians who are not members of the PAC are encouraged to discuss issues or concerns with one or more PAC members, who then share the information at PAC meetings.
To keep you informed, Wellmark will use this site to post upcoming meeting dates, recommendations made by the PACs, and Wellmark’s response to each recommendation. Please check this location periodically for updates.
