Wellmark no longer requires preauthorization of Resting Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) procedures beginning with date of service January 1, 2012.

TTE services (CPT codes 93303–93304, 93306–93308*) require preauthorization through December 31, 2011.

In early January, we will be updating our online chart of CPT codes that require preauthorization. You’ll find this chart with our radiology preauthorization information in early January.

Wellmark is making this change as part of our continued analysis and evaluation of the diagnostic imaging preauthorization program.
