As a result of 2011 Iowa legislation, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa has expanded its coverage of diabetic supplies to include prescribed alcohol wipes (HCPCS code A4245), effective July 1, 2011.

 

Prescribed alcohol wipes are now covered under most Wellmark health plans when billed with a primary diagnosis of 249.00–250.93.

Wellmark has identified claims received since the ruling went into effect, so you do not need to refile claims for prescribed diabetic alcohol wipes.
