As life changes, your health insurance needs may change too!

The Open Enrollment Period to buy health insurance is currently closed. But you may still qualify to get coverage or make changes to your existing coverage if you’ve recently had a life event.

 

Qualified Life Events

If you've experienced one of the life events listed below, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period — a certain window of time when you can enroll or make changes to your current coverage outside of the Open Enrollment Period.

*Voluntarily removing a spouse and/or dependent(s) from employer coverage does not qualify the individual(s) for a Special Enrollment Period.
**When enrolling with a qualified life event, the documents listed must be provided.

 

How to enroll

If you currently have a Wellmark Individual and Family Plan, and need to update your coverage with a qualified life event, contact your authorized Wellmark representative or call Customer Service at the number on the back of your ID card.

 

To enroll in a Wellmark Individual and Family Plan with a qualified life event, you can view and compare your options online or contact a local authorized Wellmark representative. If you are on a group plan, please contact your employer.

 

Iowa residents may apply for dental-only coverage at any time throughout the year.
