No matter if you are a BlueAccess, Alliance Select, or Preferred-Care Blue participant you and your dependent family members have the benefit of BlueCard when outside of your network area.
- Alliance Select PPO members (PPO 500, PPO 1200, HDHP 2500): Your ID card is your link to care anywhere in the country. BlueCard PPO links Blue Plan PPO network doctors and hospitals to Blue Plans throughout the United States. Whether you or your family are traveling or living in another Blue Plan's area, you can take advantage of PPO benefits and savings when you present your ID card to any BlueCard PPO doctor or hospital. - Blue Access members: Blue Access members have coverage for emergency and urgent care when out of the Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa service area. BlueCard also offers services for long-term travelers or for family members who are living out of Iowa. Find out more about BlueCard.
