Updates to the Wellmark Drug List

Bi-annually Wellmark reviews the Wellmark Drug List. We would like to inform you that there are no planned January 2014 changes to the Wellmark Drug List that will negatively impact members. We encourage members to use generics whenever possible. For many drugs there are generic alternatives in the same category or chemical family available in lower tiers. These drugs are approved by the FDA to treat your illness or condition, and you’ll pay a lower out-of-pocket amount. You will need a new prescription from your doctor to move to a generic alternative medication. Usually a simple phone call to your health care provider requesting a generic substitution is all that is necessary.
