Duplicative tests – and costs – are more common than you might think. A primary care physician who coordinates your care can help eliminate those tests and procedures.
The health care system can be a maze. Take a test from one specialist. Go to another specialist for a different test (or maybe the same one). Your insurance may cover for a specialist referral, but not for a self-referral. And after all the tests, time, and money, you still may not have a good handle on your condition.
That’s why having a primary care physician makes sense. That physician or their clinic can help you navigate the system and get you to the specific care you need.
Wellmark Tip: Build a relationship with a doctor to ensure you receive the right care at the right time.
