What Employers Can Do
Start a Walking Campaign
|
 |
One of the most effective long-term ways to manage the rising cost of health care
is to encourage your employees to get regular exercise. That's why Wellmark
Blue Cross and Blue Shield, in cooperation with the Blue Cross and Blue
Shield Association, created WalkingWorks®, the Blue Program
for a Healthier America.
WalkingWorks is a program that:
- Helps you motivate your employees.
- Encourages your employees to set personal walking goals based on
their current level of fitness and health, so it’s right for
everyone.
Sponsoring WalkingWorks at your workplace is easy
Everything you do to encourage your employees to participate makes a
difference to the success of WalkingWorks at your workplace:
- Encourage walking groups during lunchtime or outside of regular business
hours.
- Launch WalkingWorks with a visible splash by making the program a part of your workplace environment. A good way to begin is to have your workplace participate in National Walk @ Lunch Day. A variety of WalkingWorks materials are available for you to download.
- Offer incentives to employees who stick with the program and meet their
goals.
