Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield today announced two significant technology milestones that demonstrate Wellmark’s ongoing commitment to providing information on digital platforms:
Wellmark was named to the 2013 InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. as named by Information Week magazine – for its newly enhanced MyWellmark mobile app. Wellmark placed 119th on the annual list. Wellmark’s free mobile app provides its members with the ability to view their claims and benefits information; ask customer service questions online; locate a nearby in-network physician, dentist, hospital or other medical facility; view a mobile ID card that can be emailed to a medical provider; and talk to a personal health assistant 24/7.
“We continue to see an increase in members seeking information using mobile technology,” said Tim Peterson, Wellmark’s executive vice president and chief information officer. “Adding additional mobile tools, like those located on myWellmark, gives our members access to more information and provides the flexibility to manage their health information from any location at any time.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual InformationWeek 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of some of the best‐known organizations in the country. Unique among corporate rankings, the InformationWeek 500 spotlights the power of innovation in information technology. The complete Information Week listing can be found online at: www.informationweek.com/iw500/.
The MyWellmark app is available on the App StoreSM as a free download for iPhones and other Apple devices such as iPads. Android devices can access the app through the Google PlayTM Store. The app can also be downloaded by visiting Wellmark.com/GoMobile.
The Wellness Center, powered by WebMD
Wellmark has added a new tool to help its members manage and improve their health and wellness. The Wellmark Wellness Center, powered by WebMD®, allows Wellmark members to document personal health records for themselves and their dependents, participate in interactive online health coaching, review information about preventing or managing serious disease and complete yearly online health assessments.
“WebMD is the leading provider of health information and services to consumers and health care professionals,” said Peterson. “Private portals from WebMD, like the Wellmark Wellness Center, enable individuals to make more informed benefit, treatment and provider decisions.”
The Wellmark Wellness Center gives members easy access to the information they need to make smart decisions about their health such as:
- Identifying personal health risks and learning how to manage or eliminate them.
- Take a wellness assessment and develop personalized health improvement plans.
- Securely document the health history and personal health records for members and their dependents.
- Participate in interactive health coaching.
- Subscribe to receive newsletters and health topic information tailored to their interests.
- Search for information on any health topic from A to Z, and get fast results from reliable, up-to-date sources.
“Changing lifestyle habits can be difficult,” said Peterson. “The tools and resources on Wellmark’s Wellness Center will help our members easily understand where they can improve and provides meaningful daily actions they can take to improve health.”
