DES MOINES, Iowa (June 22, 2012) – Ames residents are benefiting from each three-pointer made by the Iowa State Cyclones (ISU) during the 2011-12 football and basketball seasons.
Wellmark's 3-Point Play made a donation to the Ames Parks and Recreation department for each field goal made during the Cyclones’ 2011 football season, and each three-point basket during both the men's and women's 2011-12 basketball seasons. In total, $21,300 has been raised through the program to date.
"We were able to make valuable purchases for our community center thanks to Wellmark’s 3-Point Play program," said Nancy Carroll, director, Ames Parks and Recreation. "We have purchased new fitness equipment like treadmills, elliptical trainers and hand weights that can be used by our residents for many years to come."
Wellmark will continue to make a donation to the Ames Parks and Recreation department for each field goal and three-point basket made during the 2012-13 ISU sports season. Five other Division I universities in Iowa and South Dakota are part of the 3-Point Play program.
